This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

COURSE DURATION: Full day. Courses start at 8am daily with end times varying on number of students in each class and levels of competency. . day courses are scheduled to be completed by 12pm, full day courses scheduled to 5pm.

COURSE OPTIONS:
Blended: This delivery method is best suited to students who are confident in learning online and have basic computer skills. The knowledge content and theory assessment is delivered through our online learning system, prior to a face to face practical assessment. It is essential that students have access to a reliable computer and internet access.

Face to Face: This delivery method involves all elements of the training and assessment being delivered in the face to face setting. This is the longest duration of training and offers students the maximum opportunity to interact with the trainer delivering the information.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations: performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor

Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies. Or you can contact the office to use a laptop in one of our training rooms.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. Written assessments include multiple choice and short answer questions. Practical assessments include performing tasks to a simulated workplace scenario. Students must identify any LLN needs they may have at the time of enrolment.

How the NCVER and other bodies handle your personal information


NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the NVETR Act. Your personal information may be used and disclosed by NCVER for purposes that include populating authenticated VET transcripts; administration of VET; facilitation of statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage; and understanding the VET market. NCVER is authorised to disclose information to the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), Commonwealth authorities, state and territory authorities (other than registered training organisations) that deal with matters relating to VET and VET regulators for the purposes of those bodies, including to enable:

  • administration of VET, including program administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation

NCVER may also disclose personal information to persons engaged by NCVER to conduct research on NCVER’s behalf.

NCVER does not intend to disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients.
